Student-Athletes Profiles

Student-Athletes

Josiah Karl LeGree

On the AAU circuit, Josiah has proven to many that he can be one of the top players when on the floor. He is very athletic, a go-to scorer who can create his shot, and finishes around the rim with both hands. Josiah can shoot the long ball and has shown he can hit the clutch free throws with the game is on the line. Josiah has active hands on the defensive end and can cause some of the most excellent ball handlers to turn it over. Looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table at Parkville High School (MD) this year heading into his sophomore year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was forced to miss his freshman year season. Josiah is expecting to play varsity basketball under Coach Josh.

Le'Taysha Arrington

Previous School: Colonial Forge

Hometown: Stafford Virginia

Le'Taysha Arrington is currently attending Carlow University. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2021-2022 season will be her Freshman Year. During the off-season, I had the opportunity to watch her grow in the developmental phases. Le'Taysha has proven she can finish around the rim with both hands. Le'Taysha can step away from the block and consistently knock down the mid-range jumper. On the defensive end, Le'Taysha alters many shots and rebounds the basketball reasonably well. I am looking forward to seeing what she brings to the table for Carlow University this up and coming season.

Tyler Johnson

Tyler is a bit undersized at the forward position, but his physicality, his intensity, and energy make up for his lack of size on the inside. Tyler can stretch the floor with this shooting ability showing coaches that he can knock down the mid-range consistently. In a system-oriented team, Tyler has demonstrated to have a high basketball IQ. Tyler communicates very well on the defensive end, ensuring that his teammates are always in the right place at the right time. Tyler has shown improvement over the months as he works daily to improve his game. The one thing that stands out about this student-athlete is his professionalism on and off the court. Tyler is currently attending Thomas Dale High School in Virginia and we are looking forward to seeing what he brings to the Thomas Dales Basketball Program this upcoming season.

Personal: Tyler Johnson is the son of US Army SFC Rebecca Johnson currently residing in Petersburg Virginia.

Jeremiah Johnson

Jeremiah Johnson is another inner-city student-athlete from Petersburg, Virginia. Jeremiah is a true student before athlete, and that is what I like most about this young man. His most incredible skill in life has nothing to do with basketball. The way Jeremiah carries himself when no one is looking is just hard to find in today's generation of youth. Having those manners make him coachable, and as we all know, any coaches love to have coachable student-athletes. I had the opportunity to coach Jeremiah at the NCAA Live Bigshots in Hampton, Virginia, and I must say he showed out. Jeremiah typically comes off the bench for the Truly US AAU basketball program, but the person playing in front of him did not show. He had that next-man-up mentality and held down the middle all weekend long. Jeremiah is constantly working on his craft. Jeremiah is always asking how he can improve. Jeremiah has shown many that he can rebound with the best of the best in the middle. Even when you think he is undersized, he manages to still battle to show his opponent he will not back down. Jeremiah has very soft hands and can finish around the rim. Occasionally he steps away from the block to knock down the mid-range jumper. He can defend 94 feet he needs to. After putting in hours of work this past off-season, Jeremiah has just been accepted to Virginia Preparatory School.

Jeremiah Johnson is the son Michelle Johnson.

Nicholas Williams

Nicholas Williams is another student-athlete from Chesterfield, Virginia. Nicholas's greatest asset takes place off the court. He is well mannered, respectful to his peers, and coachable. All those are recipes for the development of an outstanding student-athlete. I had the opportunity to coach Nicholas at the NCAA Live Bigshots in Hampton, Virginia and the DMV Live Showcase during the 2021 summer with the Truly US AAU Basketball Program. Nicholas has shown on a nightly basis that he can be an elite defender. Nicholas uses his athleticism to defend the opposing team's best player, 94 feet. Nicholas has also shown that he can rebound with the best of them from the guard position with his athleticism. During his first outing at the NCAA Live Bigshots, Nicholas grabbed 16 rebounds and helped lead his team to the championship. His defense sparks many runs that his team capitalized on each game. Nicholas needs to improve on his jump shooting but has time to develop that skill as he grows into a phenomenal student-athlete. Following the ending of his 2021 summer AAU season, Nicholas has been working hard on his craft. After putting in hours of work this past off-season, Nicholas has just been accepted to Virginia Preparatory School and will join Jeremiah Johnson heading into their nationally ranked season.

Nicholas Williams is the son of Nicole Reed, Carl Williams Sr. and Stepfather James Reed Sr.

Tylanna McCray

Tylanna McCray / Class of 2022 / Senior Night

I am so proud of Tylanna McCray. Tylanna trained faithfully every Thursday during the pandemic to stay ready for her volleyball season. Being invited out to Senior Night meant a lot to me as a coach, mentor, and trainer. Tylanna has come a long way. At her Senior Night Varsity game against Woodbridge, Tylanna demonstrated that her hard work had paid off. I remember when she complained about doing two box jumps. By the time she was finished with the scheduled sessions, she could conduct sets of 10s. Overall, I am proud. Tylanna will be graduating from Colonial Forge in June of 2022. Tylanna plans to attend Norfolk State or Hampton University to study nursing Fall of 2022.

Congratulations, Tylanna McCray and the McCray family. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Tylanna's student-athlete journey.

Personal: Daughter of Zachary & Shalonda McCray.
